Gold and opal stock pin

This stock pin is made of 9ct rose gold stamped A.J.H. 9ct. The makers mark stands for Alfred James Howe a well known jewellery maker at the beginning of the 20^th century. The oval opal is set centrally with mill grain surround and is open backed to allow the gem to display its many colours. The bar has raised shoulders on either side of the opal. The pin fastens with a nappy pin type clasp and has a loop to which a safety chain could be fitted.
